tuesday, a photo diary.

Sorry to get all up in your grill with my amateur "photography", but today I feel like sharing :) This morning I caught the train to Kiama to visit my camera shy mother and we had lunch and schlepped around the shops for a bit, before going home to decorate the Christmas tree. Lovely.

In other 'please care about my life' business, I found out yesterday that I am allowed to graduate! Hooray! After six years of full time study, you can only imagine how incredibly exciting this news is to me. Recently discovering I was one subject short was a major blow, but as it turns out - I'm not the only one who doesn't understand my outdated degree! Somehow that missing 6cp went totally over the heads of the graduation office as well. So, next Wednesday, the 14th of December, I will officially be graduating with a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology (eBusiness Management). The icing on that cupcake is that I'll be graduating with distinction in BICT! Happy face. Now, I just have to find the perfect dress to go with that stylin' blue gown. In less than a week. HELP!

(Oh: I'm quickly becoming addicted to Instagram! My username is karenclaire_ if you want to see more snapshots x)

diana in london.

I FINALLY got my first Diana Mini roll of film developed. These photos were taken in February (good grief) in London. I have to say, I wasn't very happy with the results. Most of the photos were too dark and very blurry/fuzzy. I have a feeling maybe it has something to do with the focus setting I was using? Does anybody have any Diana Mini tips? I have another roll from Melbourne that I need to get developed as well, hopefully they'll be more impressive. Here are some of the "better" shots:

This last one is my favourite. I'll definitely be using this setting for the next roll instead of the square shot!

sleeping sickness.

Hello lovelies.

It's been a hectic week! I'm currently at the sleep clinic with leads stuck all over my face and in my nice clean hair (boo) with only 42 minutes to go until my next scheduled nap! Fun times :) Hope your Friday is leading you in to an amazing weekend!

i would go out tonight, but i haven't got a stitch to wear.

Hello lovebirds. After a massive week, I'm safe and sound back at home. However, I haven't completely recovered from the amazing whirlwind that was Melbourne yet, as this week I started my legal placement! It hasn't been quite as scary as I imagined, the people are great and I find the work interesting and easy to understand, but as soon as I get home I am completely knackered. I couldn't get an early night last night because I went to see Bridesmaids (hilarious - highly recommended) but if you don't mind me going to bed at 8pm tonight I promise I will utilise those extra hours of sleep for blogging tomorrow :) In the meantime, here are a small handful of photos from my trip. They are not the best as I used my Diana Mini the majority of the time, but the film is yet to be developed. Enjoy x

Divine dessert at Mamasita.

The lovely Sarah at Madame Brussels.

You don't have to convince me!

Golden Book menus.

If I hadn't hit the cocktails too hard the night before this would've definitely been my lunchtime drink of choice.

Centre Place aka Diagon Alley.

Myself at a basement record store.

The record store again.

Sarah sets her heart on a Fleet Foxes record ....

...and gives the mannequins a run for their money at Retrostar.

And our second day is finished with a drink at Golden Monkey.

From this point onwards I'd figured out how to put the film in my Diana Mini (derr) so keep posted for more photos....and stories (such as why the title of this post is a Smiths song and how we narrowly avoided a Mexican orgy...)

sydney side.

(Yen Photo of the Day)

I'm (sadly) back from Melbourne but am looking forward to a fabulous weekend in Sydney with my lovely two best friends from high school. One of them just bought a house in Manly so its house-warming time. Have a great weekend pretties!

farthing wood.

My lovely friend Sarah seems to have isolated the reason for my ridiculous obsession for woodland creatures. Remember the books/show The Animals of Farthing Wood? A childhood favourite which is clearly influencing me to this day. All my friends think its funny and/or creepy but I don't mind, if the house was burning down I'd definitely collect my ceramic rabbit and china deer first (speaking of which, check out this blog).

creams and pills, they got nothing on you.

Do you ever feel like you're not a real person? That you're a shadow of yourself, repeating things you've heard people say, doing things you know people will accept as socially normal? Like you don't have a  purpose and you're light years behind everyone else, rushing to keep up but still slipping behind?

Or is that just me?

crunch time.

Group projects are the worst. All I want to do is trawl the internet for blogs and new music. Thank god this is my last year of uni.

do they really know you, lola.

Lonely Lola cherry cola girl
How much do they pay you for your smile?
Alone in your own creaming soda world
Maybe you were happy for a while
Lola you're a star tonight
Don't let them pluck you from the sky

Lonely Lola everybody knows
Everybody calls themselves your friend
But later on tonight when it gets cold
Lola who's gonna hold you then?
There's something in your eyes tonight
Forget them and take it in your stride

My friends told me 'bout how you've been gettin' out
But no-one seems to know your name
Slide on through the crowd and let them talk aloud
They only want to hold ya
Do they really know ya Lola?

So you say you're Lonely, Lola, sure
Everybody gets that way sometimes
But Lonely Lola you could know the cure
Wait it out and Lola, you'll be fine
It's easy if you try tonight

I consider Lola my alternate personality - the girl I want to be. Hence, writing love letters to her featuring all the things I think she'd like is the only way I can reach out to her and bring her closer to me. Sounds silly, but hey, that's the reason I need her in my life. And just quietly, I think she needs me too.
