my head's a balloon.

Everybody has a dream job. Mine is definitely party planning. Case in point: these giant balloons from Geronimo and the photography featuring them sends shivers of excitement down my spine....and where else would they be appropriate, if not a giant, colourful, decadent party...preferably thrown for no reason at all.

braid wednesday.

Having this fun new hairstyle makes me wish I could do more to with my hair than just a ponytail or a few uneven twirls wih the GHD. The Flickr pool Braid Wednesday doesn't really help with my general ineptness in the hair department, but the photos are just so pretty that I can't help but imagine how much better my life would be if only I could braid.

braids, of course.

i would go out tonight, but i haven't got a stitch to wear.

Hello lovebirds. After a massive week, I'm safe and sound back at home. However, I haven't completely recovered from the amazing whirlwind that was Melbourne yet, as this week I started my legal placement! It hasn't been quite as scary as I imagined, the people are great and I find the work interesting and easy to understand, but as soon as I get home I am completely knackered. I couldn't get an early night last night because I went to see Bridesmaids (hilarious - highly recommended) but if you don't mind me going to bed at 8pm tonight I promise I will utilise those extra hours of sleep for blogging tomorrow :) In the meantime, here are a small handful of photos from my trip. They are not the best as I used my Diana Mini the majority of the time, but the film is yet to be developed. Enjoy x

Divine dessert at Mamasita.

The lovely Sarah at Madame Brussels.

You don't have to convince me!

Golden Book menus.

If I hadn't hit the cocktails too hard the night before this would've definitely been my lunchtime drink of choice.

Centre Place aka Diagon Alley.

Myself at a basement record store.

The record store again.

Sarah sets her heart on a Fleet Foxes record ....

...and gives the mannequins a run for their money at Retrostar.

And our second day is finished with a drink at Golden Monkey.

From this point onwards I'd figured out how to put the film in my Diana Mini (derr) so keep posted for more photos....and stories (such as why the title of this post is a Smiths song and how we narrowly avoided a Mexican orgy...)

sydney side.

(Yen Photo of the Day)

I'm (sadly) back from Melbourne but am looking forward to a fabulous weekend in Sydney with my lovely two best friends from high school. One of them just bought a house in Manly so its house-warming time. Have a great weekend pretties!

honestly amazing.

In my hunt for DIY projects I hit the jackpot when I stumbled across Honestly WTF. The blog that boasts 'a daily dose of fashion discoveries and inspirations' has a whole section dedicated to DIY, and let me tell you, it was difficult to pick out just one project to share with you all. So, here are a few of my favourites:

Perfect for adding a little bit of extra fun to a backyard picnic with friends.

2. DIY Moleskin Scrapbooks
If you're like me and have a ridiculous obsession with (a) notebooks and (b) scraps of paper/fabric, this project is a dream come true!

3. DIY Woven Chain Bracelet
These would be lovely to give to friends (provided you can really master the art so their reponse isn't 'oh....um, thanks...')

4. DIY Walnut Heart Bracelet
A quirky Valentines Day gift to yourself.

5. DIY Collar Tips
The perfect thing to spruce up that shirt you got from the op shop.

ANNND the best of all:

6. DIY Tepee
Hey, a girl can dream!

a kaleidoscope collage.

Like Nancy from the amazing blog Wolf and Willow, I'm fascinated by this new indie art movement, its name of which I am unaware. I was first taken by it when I was going through a serious Tumblr phase, however it slipped my mind for awhile, until I read Nancys post. She describes it as 'digital collage, nature themes, kinda cosmic', and like her, I completely love it. The above image is by Brent Hildy, the following were found on Tumblr (but I am happy to properly source them if anyone has the correct information!)

leave all your love and your longing behind.

If you're a fan of Florence and the Machine and/or cute boys with talent, then you are going to love this video. Swoon.

I'm off to Melbourne today, but I've scheduled a few posts that I hope you'll enjoy! Have a lovely week x

farthing wood.

My lovely friend Sarah seems to have isolated the reason for my ridiculous obsession for woodland creatures. Remember the books/show The Animals of Farthing Wood? A childhood favourite which is clearly influencing me to this day. All my friends think its funny and/or creepy but I don't mind, if the house was burning down I'd definitely collect my ceramic rabbit and china deer first (speaking of which, check out this blog).

chloe, i know this is impossible.

I want to be best friends with Chloë Sevigny. I want to pop over to her house for dress ups, cocktails and a sleepover. I want her to invite me to move in to the spare room because she thinks we always have a rad time together....and I want this all to have happened in the 90s.

Is that too much to ask?
